Sanitize Eye Liners

Products that are applied near your eyes need to be free of germs—the last thing you want to do is wake up with a nasty eye infection. To ensure your eye liner is bacteria-free, here are three easy ways to sanitize your gel, pencil and liquid eye liners.
HOW TOSanitize Eye Liners
-
A sanitizer mist is a convenient and easy way to clean surfaces of your eye liners. Beauty So Clean has a Cosmetic Sanitizer Mist, which you spritz onto your pencil, liquid or gel eye liner and let it air dry before use.
-
An inexpensive alternative is using 70% rubbing alcohol to clean your eye makeup. Moisten a tissue with rubbing alcohol and wipe the surface of the pencil, liquid, or gel eye liner. Wait until the rubbing alcohol dries completely before use.
-
This only applies to pencil eye liners, but the easiest and fastest way to sanitize is by sharpening. Of course, make sure your sharpener is wiped down with 70% rubbing alcohol before use.

Great tips, I sure hope people are sharpening pencils if they're sharing with friends :)
For work though, I use a flat liner brush to pick up liner product and then use that to apply on clients, that way the pencil never touches them and I don't feel icky about using the pencil on someone else.

I use Beauty So Clean and alcohol religiously on everything in my professional makeup kit, but I never really thought about using it on my own makeup because I'm the only one who uses. I've never gotten an eye infection before, but maybe I will start to sanitize my own stuff, just in case! Thanks for the info!

Great article... Do you think the first two ways of sanitizing is good so that other people can use your eyeliner as well, or is that still just gross?
Can you do more posts on how to sanitize other products as well?

As long as you sanitize your eye liners before a friend uses it, it's perfectly fine (not gross at all). It's only gross when it's not clean :)
For other products like powders, you just need to spritz the mist or alcohol and wait until it dries to use. For cream products, spritz the top layer and wipe it away so you get rid of the top dirty layer.
