B: When did you first get interested in makeup?
The first time I remember being interested in makeup was when I would watch my mother get ready for work when I was a little girl. I was in complete awe at how makeup could enhance the beauty that she already possessed. It was like magic to me. Growing up, I was always fascinated in magazines showing makeup and tips but it was not until about three years ago that I really started paying attention to the technique and artistry of makeup.
B: How were you inspired to start your beauty channel?
The first couple of videos that I had posted on my channel were creations inspired by Disney. My cousin, who also does makeup on YouTube (freshxsoul) had a channel before and I had no idea what a channel even was. It was so bizarre to me that a person could have their own personal channel on YouTube to upload videos. I was practicing Halloween makeup and posting it on a Disney forum that I was active on. After making a slideshow of the work I had done after playing with my face, I started to get comments on the videos and decided to keep posting just for fun and that's when it all took off from there.
B: Has creating beauty videos on YouTube changed your life?
I personally do think that creating videos on YouTube has changed my life because I've met so many amazing and talented people through YouTube and also had the chance to develop my skills by being active on YouTube. I feel very blessed that people even want to see the work that I post at all. Its so amazing and I am completely humbled by the response that I receive.
B: What is the most rewarding part of being a vlogger?
When I get word from people saying that I helped them in some small way or even inspired them. I think that's an amazing thing to be able to do and I feel like its a privilege.
B: You rock the most gorgeous and bold colors. How do you decide what colors to wear every day?
Thank you so much! Usually when I do wear bright colors, which is often, I think of maybe two or three that I might want to play with while thinking about color theory and then I decide on how I want my eye shape to look. After that, its really just playing and having a good time. Some of the time I completely forget about the outfit I had planned to wear for the day and then I have to change it completely once I finish having fun with my makeup.
B: Who are some of your favorite vloggers to watch?
I'm obsessed with the Pixiwoo sisters, I think they are absolutely gorgeous and so down to earth. They always do amazing work and I'm always in awe of how skilled they are. Goldiestarling is one that I always am in shock when I see her work because its so out of this world. She uses so many new techniques and her amazing painting skills to create these full face looks that are so fantastic.
B: Do you have any advice for others that would like to start their own channel?
For anyone who is interested in starting their own beauty channel, I say do it for the fun of it and don't get discouraged. I know there's a lot of people on YouTube that let their opinions get somewhat negative and they have the right to say them. It's a completely open forum and they can say whatever they want, but as long as you grow some thick skin and do what you love, it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. I also think that you should only make videos that you enjoy making. Trying to please others won't make you happy.
B: Do you have a signature look that you are recognized for?
I change up my look all the time. I get bored SO quickly but I think that people recognize me for my use of bright colors. I used to get recognized for my hair but I've been changing it up so much that its hard to keep up with.
B: Name five products you can't live without!
Right now I cannot live without concealer (the one I am using right now is from Coastal Scents Camouflage Concealer Palette), liquid eyeliner which is always necessary for me (I am currently using the K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Eyeliner), false lashes (preferably Red Cherry), lip conditioner, and moisturizer.
B: What beauty faux pas are you guilty for?
People say that if you have small eyes you shouldn't have liner all around them, but I do it all the time. I can't help it. I love doing and I don't mind that they make my eyes look ridiculously small haha.
B: What is your beauty pet peeve?
I dislike when people say that they can't try something or they wish they could. I used to live that way and after a while I couldn't do it anymore. You only live once and I'd rather look back and laugh at myself for being ridiculous by trying something than regretting even giving it a chance.
B: If you could be any Disney character, who would it be?
When I first read this question I had to think really hard about how to answer this because even getting asked what my favorite Disney character is, is always a challenge for me to answer. I guess I'd have to go classic and say Minnie Mouse. She's absolutely adorable, has long lashes and rocks really awesome yellow pumps. You can't go wrong with that!
B: Any exciting upcoming projects you would like to share?
I just graduated from college and I'm starting to freelance more. I am currently looking to expanding my horizons and would like to be involved in the beauty world so I'm hoping that with this year ahead of me, a lot of great things can happen.
