Makeup artist James O’Riley was inspired by Yayio Kusama, a Japanese artist who only works in polkadots and of course, Louise Gray’s collection itself. “It’s extremely colourful this season,” says O’Riley, “initially it’s beautiful skin but then I wanted to inject colour onto the face in an untraditional manner.”
FACE LFW Fall 2011: MAC at Louise Gray
MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation was applied sparingly to skin that’s perfect but not made up. O’Riley mattified skin with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish, then painted uniform size dots with MAC Chromagraphic Pencil in ‘Primary Yellow’, ‘Basic Red’, ‘Pure White’, ‘Landscape Green’, ‘Genuine Orange’, and ‘Marine Ultra’. The trick was to make the dots look as if they’ve fallen over the face, so some overlap and are more densely clustered than in other areas.
EYES LFW Fall 2011: MAC at Louise Gray
O’Riley blended MAC Cream Color Base in ‘Mid-Tone Sepia’ over the lids and delicately past the crease. He added MAC Zoom Lash Mascara in ‘Zoomblack’ so that the girls still look pretty, despite the abstract makeup. Brows were sealed with MAC Clear Brow Set.

O’Riley hydrated lips with MAC Lip Conditioner SPF 15.
