err... i don't understand why YSL's Glossy Stain is being compared to Revlon's Lip Butter. i think a comparable YSL product would be Volupte Sheer Candy (it has the same texture as the Lip Butter, except awesomer pigmentation that stains your lips and stays that way for hours). personally, i'm willing to pay up to US$40.00 for a good lip product. just because i know i'll use them up and you can feel a lip product's texture when you're wearing it. i don't like purchasing a product and end up not using it at all because i don't like how it feels on my body, i think that's the TRUE waste. :|

BUT i'm a major penny-pincher when it comes to eye make-up (because i seldom wear eye make-up). although i have occasionally splurged on eyeliner. at the moment i exclusively use drugstore mascara (Mavala, but i used to use Maybelline) and drugstore eye shadow (NYX, Wet n Wild, ELF). i think my best quality eye shadow is a 8-color WnW set that cost me US$4.99, while and my cheapest item is an ELF quad that cost me US$1.00! the ELF quad is a bit flaky, but i have a good primer, so it all works out just fine. ;)

i also can NEVER get myself to pay for anything from MAC, MUFE, or Smashbox. LOL.

I love to splurge and save. The only time I really spend the cash is if the colors are a little unique and/or you just know you won't get that specific shade/palette anywhere else. But if I know I can get a dupe of an eyeshadow, lipstick/gloss, blush..etc then I go for drugstore brands :)

i base my decisions on product type (lip, eye, cheeks, face). i almost always splurge on lip products, but always insist on getting cheapo eye shadow. for every high-end eye shadow i want, there's always a drugstore dupe out there for me if i look hard enough. i found Urban Decay's "Evidence" and "Deep End" (US$55.00) in a Wet n Wild set called "Blue Had Me At Hello" that cost me US$4.99. :)
