Beautylish’s Editor Picks
Published Feb 01, 2012
It’s that time again! A new month means new beauty products, and 2012 has certainly brought a lot of them! We’ve sorted through and tested all the goodies that have landed on our desks at Beautylish HQ and discovered a few new things that we just can’t live without. Here are our favorite picks for the month.
“The winter has been harsh on my lips, and I love how soft this butter makes my pout! Lollipop is such a bright, fun shade, and adds a much needed pop of color to dreary days.”
“Having darker skin means that I'm always skeptical when something is labeled universal, but I was surprised to find that this kit works perfectly on my complexion. It's the ideal palette for achieving Spring’s trendy minimal makeup look. The brightener and the concealer cover up my dark circles, and the bronzer adds just a hint of glow. I like to mix the cream and powder blush together and dab on the apples of my cheeks—it's such a pretty rosy hue!”
“I'm in love with the Estée Lauder BB Cream. The formula is richer but less greasy than a tinted moisturizer and really feels like it's protecting me from the sun—I get nervous when my SPF is too sheer. It's replaced my previous thick sunscreen and foundation routine in the morning with one easy step. And my skin looks better every time I use it!”
“I probably haven't worn lip gloss since high school—I've just found it to be too shiny and sticky for my taste. So, I was hesitant to try Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Cream Lip Polish when it arrived in our office. But I loved it! The creamy texture isn’t too shiny or goopy, and it still feels moisturizing.”
“I’m a bit of a mascara addict. I don’t wear false lashes, so I’m always looking for a product that gives my lashes extra length and thickness. Dior’s New Look mascara comes in a jumbo-sized tube, and the new-and-improved formula is amazing—my lashes are longer than ever! I’ve even had complete strangers asking if my lashes are real!”
“I walk a lot in San Francisco, and my hands have taken a beating from the harsh winter wind. Crabtree & Evelyn's Lavender Hand Therapy has been a lifesaver. It smells so calming and my hands are completely moisturized and soft!”
"I'm not a mascara junkie by any means, but I'm really impressed with Cover Girl's latest lash formula. My lashes tend to clump together no matter which brand I try, but this particular brush impressively separates and lengthens with two coats. I don't even need to use an eyelash curler!"
