Dark spots, sun damage, and uneven skin tone—these are skin issues every Beauty will come to face. The solution? Brightening, complexion-perfecting serums! Originally targeted towards Asian consumers looking to lighten the skin, these advanced formulas are now hitting the West. But now there’s an American twist—brightening serums created for the US market go beyond lightening. The skin changers concentrate on removing dark spots and evening out the skin tone, regardless of your coloring.
So why are these benefits delivered via a serum? "Serums incorporate a higher concentration of active ingredients and are suitable for a majority of skin types," explains New York City-based dermatologist Fredric Brandt, M.D. “You can layer your favorite moisturizers and sun blocks over them easily, and results can be seen in as little as four weeks.” Women today are also more concerned with preventing (and correcting) sun damage, and are seeking products that will give them immediate results and gratification. Because of the high concentration of active ingredients in these serums, a speedy response is possible. So what ingredients should you look for when choosing a lightening, brightening, skin-perfecting serum? "Besides retinol, look for ingredients such as arbutin, kojic acid, and licorice extract,” says Dr. Brandt. “They all help with the brightening effect!"

I recommend Ponds Clarant B3 Anti-Dark Moisturizing Cream. They have it for dry to normal skin or normal to oily skin. It worked much better than Clinique's Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector on my skin. It's cheap too. Like $8 for the normal size container that they usually sell.

I've tried all kinds of skin lightening products because of acne and hyperpigmentation. Lately I've been using lemon juice and have been amazed at how fast and effective it is. It is the only thing I've tried that didn't cause more skin problems.
