"Mascara MacGyver" by Undercover Beauty Agent
My New York City makeup counter is visited by hundreds of people daily. Tourists and locals stop by looking for quick fixes, replenishment, and the trendiest new items. And lately, it seems that everyone wants colored mascara!
Lacquering your lashes in colorful shades is a great way to enhance your eyes. If you’re uncomfortable with wearing vivid shadows, tweaking your lash hue is daring, yet subtle. While common mascara options such as navy blues and dark plums are a great alternative for those who want a subtle shift, many of my clients crave electric blues, bright yellows, and vibrant teals!
When a customer visiting from Europe requested mascara in outrageously funky colors—we're talking orange and lime green—rather than turning her away, I suggested she try gel liner as mascara instead. Here’s a quick tip, Beauties. Gel liner is more versatile than you think, and you can use it as eye shadow base, lip color, and—you guessed it—mascara!
She seemed a little confused as I handed her a mascara wand and teal gel liner, but when I demonstrated the technique, she was ecstatic! Beauties, don’t forget that makeup is an art, and cosmetics are your medium. Experiment with products and don’t be afraid if things don’t go as planned. What I usually do is dab loose powder eyeshadow or glitter on my lashes while my mascara is still wet. I've never found a colored mascara that shows up on my black lashes but my powder method never fails me!

I just found a colored mascara by a brand called Nouba that is super bright! It was in a little boutique in L.A. They had a nice emerald, blue and turquoise.

I just searched high and low for colored mascara about a month ago and had the hardest time finding anything except dark green and a kind-of bright (but not really) blue. Glad to hear Inglot has some now! I'm going to check it out next time I'm in SF!

I wonder if I can multitask with MAC´s painpots.... I have very pigmented lips, so I wonder if I use my painterly on my lips will it work as a base??

I never thought about wearing colored mascara! That sounds like a good idea for those days I don't feel like packing on the shadows. The gel liner tip is awesome too! I definitely want to pick up some liners now!
