Remember 2010's über-popular ombré hair trend? Well, now the two-toned tress effect is back in a big way! This year, celebrities such as Rihanna, Ciara, and Drew Barrymore are taking the multi-dyed look to a whole new extreme with dramatically darker, visible roots. While Rihanna only displayed a few inches of brunette strands, the touch of brown at her crown gave an edgy spin on her otherwise golden locks. Drew and Ciara's shades almost look color-blocked—no gradual fading in sight!

Color blocking no, ombre yes. it looks much better when the color change is gradual. but Rihanna is gorgeous so anything works on her. this 'trend' is going to happen on me whether I like it or not since I'm currently growing out my blunt-banged bob. I dyed it a medium brown so I don't think it will look as extreme though!

I've seen ombres everywhere recently, and I have to say I don't like the color blocked look. I think it looks sexier and more chic to have a fade away ombre.
