Shelley W.'s (ShelleyW) Beauty Product Reviews
Best Buy
This is the best liquid liner around in my opinion. It doesn't fade or flake on me and for $3.99 it is definitely a great buy. Makes for the perfect winged eye looks.
Smooth
I have several other shades from the lip butter family and by far this one last longer than all of them. Much more moisturizing and creamy. As far as the shade working with my skintone it gives me a nice brown nude look with a slight touch of shimmer. Its perfect...I need to run out the door quickly kind of shade because it will definitely work with whatever eye/cheek look you're wearing since its a neutral. I'm very happy with this lip butter shade.
Well Worth It!!!
I was ordered to try something different other than picking up yet another Bobbi Brown item and so I did some exploring in Sephora one day and happen to come across this jewel. When I swatched it I was impressed. When I came home and tried it on my eyes I was super duper impressed. This duo is super pigmented and soft as well. You don't need to brush it on...just literally tap it on. Against my skintone the colors really made my brown eyes pop and the two really stood out (the shades that is). Its a bit pricey at $38 but it was well worth the price. I will be collecting the rest of the duos.
Better than the famous "O"
I had Orgasm but once I hit pan on it, which was quite recently, I decided to try something different in its place. And I'm glad I went with this pretty apricot golden shimmer. I was worried that it wouldn't work with my skintone and instead come off looking ashy but the blush is so finely milled and almost creamy in texture it just mended nicely with my skin. It gives me nice glow and I can actually see the peachiness come through. Used in conjunction with my Bobbi Brown matte bronzer in Deep I fell in love with it even more. The two of them together give me such an awesome look. I'm so shocked this is this beauty doesn't receive more attention because this is way better than Orgasm. It doubles as a highlighter and it can work as a blush by itself as well. I love it!
Cleansing Oil Virgin
First time ever using a cleansing oil and I must say this is one awesome product. It removes all my eye make-up without stinging and there is no heavy fragrance involved. Another great thing is that this doesn't contain mineral oil. Some rep at Sephora tried to sell me on another cleansing oil that was cheaper and contained mineral oil. With my oily/combo skin I experienced zero breakouts. Also, you want to use this only in the PM and use a another cleanser for the AM.
A Little Goes a Long Way
I use this for both day and night and a little goes a long way because its so rich. It makes applying any concealer much more easier since it gives a nice smooth canvas in which to work with. No tugging of the skin. At night it goes to work so by morning my eyes actually look more rested than tired. As I mentioned this product is very rich so I see this lasting quite a while.
Yuck!
I received a generous portion of this during a trip to Sephora and I just used this today prior to applying my foundation. A die-hard NARS fan when it comes to primers I see why I will remain a die hard fan. Immediately out the gate I did not like how this felt on my skin. It dried to this powder texture that gave my face a dried out look. My foundation went on just fine (no pilling up or pulling of skin with my foundation brush) but after 2 hours I was reaching for my blotting paper. Which with NARS that doesn't happen till 6 hours later and even then I don't look like grease ball. Oh buddy....when I looked at my t-zone area (which is where I only apply primer) my skin looked like a greasy mess.....like I dipped my face in the fryer at KFC. This was no benefit to me whatsoever. Will be sticking with my NARS when wearing my liquid foundation.
Disappointment
I purchased Too Cool to work as a base for a peachy pink shadow I have. From reading rav reviews about it I thought I would be equally successful as well. Instead it highlighted every flaw on my lid immediately after application . Instead of looking smooth my lids looked an aged wrinkle mess. I do give it kudos for longevity because it took several swips with make-up remover. Bad sadly I returned it. I was really hoping that it would work out for me.
Multi-Tasker
I use lotion tanners for the body but never played with a matte bronzer on my own for the face. Well, I decided to experiment and step outside my comfort zone. I wish I would've discovered this little gem a long time ago because WOW does this compact make a huge difference. For starters even though I'm a WOC my skintone sometimes can look kinda washed out. A little goes a long way because the bronzer is very pigmented. With my bronzer brush I apply this after my setting powder in the proper zones where I naturally tan (t-zone) and then I apply a pop of powder blush on my cheeks. And I also have the shimmer bricks in nectar and bronze and when I incorporate one of these into the mix....oh buddy! It looks beautiful. The shimmer just makes me glow without looking like a disco ball. This bronzer last throughout the day for me and nor does it appear orange on my face (something I worried about). You just can't go wrong with this bronzer at all.
Worth it
This stuff is gold in a bottle. Worth every penny. I was using this at all my fitness competitions but needed something a little darker to work the stage so this took a backseat. It is very light but for everyday use a little goes a long way. I layer it on top of my sunscreen and it last throughout an entire day. Even though 80 degree weather. The only thing is that if you like wearing fragrances this might clash with it because its heavily scented with vanilla. It doesn't bother me....it just reminds me of summer.
